With doing your marketing on social media, the way you present yourself is how everyone will see you. That’s why you have to write a killer Instagram bio. It’s like your website home page, portfolio, and business card all in one. And, you don’t want to embarrass yourself by writing a bio that fails to present you in your best light, right?
Okay, let’s not exaggerate, you’re not actually going to embarrass yourself or your business. But, a bad Instagram bio won’t help you make the most of your marketing efforts.
Why?
Because the Instagram bio can help you be more discoverable and drive more traffic to your profile. And, that’s what every business wants, isn’t it?
So, how can you write a great, catchy Instagram bio?
Here are 7 tips to help you craft a compelling Instagram bio.
1. Use Keywords
Instagram bios are searchable and can help you drive more profile visits, gain more followers, and increase your sales. That’s, why you have to optimize it by using keywords.
To do that, you have to include keywords that are relevant to your business. It can be your business’/your name or another word or phrase that will help you get discovered.
When writing your bio, make sure you first put the main keyword (e.g. your company’s name). if, for example, your brand’s name is your main keyword (as usually is), you can add it in the “name” field (not username!). This will help you optimize your Instagram profile.
Then, you can write the secondary keywords. These should be your niche and location.
Here’s a great example!

2. Use Hashtags
Hashtags have become waaaay too important not to include them in your Instagram bio. I mean, what’s Instagram without #hashtags?!
Adding a hashtag to your bio will help you get discovered. Think of it as a keyword in website SEO… it will show your profile on the Tags section when people search for the hashtag you use. And, if you’re not sure which keywords to use, you can use our Hashtag Wizard app to help you find the best hashtags for you.
There are many types of Instagram hashtags you can use, but it’s best to include your branded hashtag at the beginning of your bio. Then, you can also include other types of hashtags like niche and location hashtags.
By practicing this, you will raise brand awareness and drive more organic traffic to your account. Plus, it will help you boost your engagements and create a community around your brand.

3. Go Pro
Depending on your type of business, you can make your Instagram bio looking professional. This is perfect for coaches, consulting agencies, and other businesses that sell services or high-end products (tech products, marketing tools, etc).
If your business is like that, you can go the LinkedIn style and present your brand as a highly professional business. In this case, you should include your business name, services/products you sell, skills, and any links to your website, portfolio, publications, and anything that distinguishes you from your competitors.

Go Wild 😀
If you are a more laid-back brand that sells cool stuff and uses a non-formal style and a friendly voice (like we have :D), you can go wild with your bio!
Ok, so you can’t actually go wild, but you can make your bio super fun and catchy. You can do this by coming up with some cool phrases and incorporating them into sentences to describe your brand and what you sell.

5. Share Your Values
Today, more than ever, consumers pay attention to brands’ values. What makes them special? What do they stand for? What makes their products great? What makes them stand out from their competitors?
That’s why it’s a great idea to include your brand’s values in your bio.
Tell users what you stand up for! It can be that your products are eco-friendly, recyclable, not tested on animals, or that they are vegan. Whatever it is, make sure you include it in your bio.

6. Use Emojis
Do you know how they say that actions speak louder than words?
Well, then, why not save your visitors time by adding some emojis to your Instagram bio?
They won’t have to spend time reading but understand your business right away. Plus, everyone loves emojis?! There’s even a movie about them!
So, why not use their popularity to craft a catchy and neatly organized bio?
Indeed, emojis are a great and super-cool way to create a bio people will enjoy reading. They not only make your bio look friendlier but also add color to it and make it more organized.

Something like “Capturing all the beauties around the globe and sharing them with you.” is a great way to tell people why they should follow you.
